"Meals on Wheels is so important when you're caring for someone who is ill and somewhat isolated. Often, my Meals on Wheels driver is the only person I see all day, and our conversations add some needed joy and levity to my life right now!"

Joanne W. Urbandale, WesleyLife Meals on Wheels participant

We Offer More Than a Meal

Caring is Convenience

Convenience You Can Count On

Our dedicated team of drivers and volunteers delivers hot meals between 10:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, with frozen meals also available for you to enjoy whenever you please.

Healthy and Delicious? Yes to Both

Healthy and Delicious? Yes to Both

Meals on Wheels participants love the varied, nutrient-dense menu that is designed by two registered dietitians and a chef to meet the specific nutrition needs of older adults. Our menu offers a wide variety of heart healthy, low-sodium options that are also appropriate for those living with diabetes.

Our drivers deliver so much more than a meal. They're trained to offer each participant a warm "hello!" while checking on their safety. Because a driver may be the only person a participant sees during the day, they can be a vital lifeline in the event of a medical emergency.

Make an Impact as a Volunteer Driver.

Meals on Wheels volunteers are making a real difference in our community, where 10,000+ individuals are unable to access or prepare affordable, nutritious meals. Help us combat food insecurity - we are in need of volunteers! Our volunteer opportunities range from driving a Meals on Wheels route over the noon hour to checking with our clients by phone to make sure they're well and happy.

"Last spring when the pandemic hit and my crazy work/life came to a screeching halt, I felt helpless. I wasn’t a frontline worker. I wasn’t busy traveling for work or attending things for my kids. I heard a plea for Meals on Wheels volunteers on the news, and I suddenly had a purpose. I could do something to help. Now it's one of the favorite things I do every week and I can’t imagine not volunteering!”

First Steps Meal Service

If you're 60 or older, we'll bring you 3 free meals, delivered to your front door after a hospital or short-term rehabilitation stay.

No strings, no catch, nothing for you to fill out.

Interested? Click the plus sign to learn more.

Research shows if you're an older adult returning home from the hospital, it can take up to two weeks for you to regain your strength and resume your typical daily activities.

Receiving meals through our First Steps meal service can give you the "fuel" your body needs to recover more quickly.

First Steps allows us to offer any current or new client age 60 or older 3 free meals during his or her first days at home after a hospital or short-term rehabilitation stay. If he or she likes the meals, we'll continue to deliver them, and appropriate charges, if any, will apply for those subsequent meals. If he or she doesn't want to continue delivery, we'll go away quietly!
