WesleyLife Clinical Staff Educator Ann Head, MSN, RN, who conceived and leads the program, says she's pleased with the outcomes from the inaugural class.
"It is so very gratifying as a nurse and an educator to watch the students grow in confidence," Ann says. "I witnessed students prioritizing building relationships with the residents, and as those relationships developed over just a few days, the students gained insights into residents' preferences, needs, and wants.
"That led to trust, which is a game-changer for both the residents and the caregivers. That is what person-directed care is all about!"
