WesleyLife Hospice and Palliative Care recently was nominated for the Excellence in Care Award by the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa (HPCAI), the only organization in the state that is solely dedicated to end-of-life care.
In addition, Aimee Spores, director of hospice and palliative care for WesleyLife, was nominated for the Delores Butt Award, which recognizes compassionate leadership in the hospice field.
"Although we were not selected as recipients this year, these nominations are a meaningful reflection of the work our dedicated team does every day," Aimee says. "The nominations came from those who have seen our care in action — families, colleagues, and community partners who recognize the heart, skill, and dedication the hospice and palliative care teams bring to each person we serve."
A year of accomplishment
This has been a big year for WesleyLife at Home; in January, palliative care joined the WesleyLife network of services, and in June, WesleyLife Hospice was named a Level 5 partner — the most esteemed level — of We Honor Veterans, the industry's highest-level military-related designation.
Aimee credits the team for those accomplishments as well.
"All the recognition belongs to all of them, whether they're at the bedside, supporting families, coordinating care, or working behind the scenes," she says. "They embody the values of hospice and palliative care, and I’m proud to walk alongside them in this mission."
