According to Therapy Dogs International, dogs employed in a hospice setting can enrich quality of life for patients, primarily by bringing peace and contentment to individuals whose lives included animals. Therapy dogs can help combat loneliness, and exposure to the pets often allows patients to feel needed and wanted at a vulnerable time.
We're interested in expanding our therapy-dog fleet! If you're interested in talking with us about your dog, please contact Julie Swett, director of home health and hospice for WesleyLife, at jswett@wesleylife.org.
