James ClindanielJames A. Clindaniel Jr., CHE, Executive Director

James A. Clindaniel Jr., CHE, most recently served as executive director of Hidden Lake, a Lutheran Senior Services community located in St. Louis. He is a board-certified healthcare executive, a premier credential in healthcare management, and licensed nursing-home administrator.

Jim holds a master of business administration degree with a human-resource emphasis from New Hampshire College; a bachelor of science degree in Health Care Management from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, Ill.; and an associate degree in Pharmacy Technology from the Community College of the Air Force.

From 1987 through 1997, Jim served in various hospital administration and management positions at four U.S. Naval hospitals. He then served as an aeromedical evacuation operations operator for the Scott Air Force Base, and from 1999 through 2015, he served as a health care administrator or executive director of several health care centers and communities that serve older adults. 

John TaylorJohn Taylor, Director of Plant Operations


John Taylor joined The Village team in 2015.  He has more than 12 years of maintenance experience in a variety of organizations. John lived in California and New York before moving to Iowa in 2009. His most recent experience is in commercial and residential maintenance with R&R Realty in West Des Moines.  His “hands-on” approach is beneficial in directing the community's maintenance and housekeeping efforts.

Monica VailMonica Vail, Wellness Director

Monica Vail is passionate about health promotion and disease prevention. Her background as a registered nurse, along with certification of competency as a health coach, enables her to assist The Village's residents along their personal journey to well-being. The Village's holistic approach to health and well-being sets the community apart from other senior living communities and supports WesleyLife’s mission to transform the aging experience. In addition to The Village, she serves on the Warren County Health Services Committee and teaches healthy-living classes at the local YMCA. Her previous position was with the Mercy Accountable Care leadership team as a health coach manager, overseeing health coaches housed within Mercy Clinics, along with managing our employee health coaching program.

Julia FitzhughJulia Fitzhugh, Marketing Director

Julia Fitzhugh, Director of Marketing, is an experienced marketing leader with strong foundations in strategic and tactical marketing and communication solutions, multi-channel development, product development, growth strategy and project management. Julia serves on the Warren County Leadership Institute Board of Directors, the Regional Leadership Council, and the Warren County Wellness Coalition.

Nancy McKassonNancy McKasson, Office Manager

Nancy McKasson joined The Village 15 years ago. She is an experienced business professional with strong foundations in accounting, office operations, human resources, and customer service, and familiarity with the Des Moines and Indianola markets. 

Jaycie BockJaycie Bock, RN, Director of Assisted Living 

Jaycie started her work with older adults as a teenager working as a CNA near her hometown of Glidden, Iowa. She earned a master’s degree in nursing from Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, and has experience in acute care in the hospital setting, long-term care, and leadership. She was drawn to her role at The Village because of Wesley Life’s dedication to wellness and enhancing the aging experience.

Sarah Treybal Sarah Treybal, RN, Director of Nursing 

Sarah has been employed in in healthcare for more than a decade and has a passion for long-term and geriatric care. She earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Kaplan University and has worked for the past several years with dementia and Alzheimer’s patients. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) and a Certified Resident Assessment Coordinator (RAC-CT), and has experience in long-term care, leadership, and as an MDS Coordinator. Sarah is excited to be a part of enhancing the lives of Village residents!

Angela SmithAngela Smith, Director of Social Services Angela started her career by managing adults with intellectual disabilities in Illinois in 2004. She then moved to Iowa in 2007 and served as administrator for various residential care facilities. She joined WesleyLife in March 2015. In her social-worker role, she works to ensure the continuum of care is followed. She earned a bachelor's degree from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill.
