1988: The Newton Retirement Foundation reports plans for a 100-Unit Continuing Care Community in Newton.
1988: Wesley Retirement Services, Inc., in Des Moines announces its agreement to develop a senior living community in Newton with plans for 60 apartment and townhome units, plus a healthcare center and Assisted Living apartments.
1990: Wesley Retirement Services announces that Park Centre will include 48 Independent Living apartments, 20 Assisted Living apartments, and 30 intermediate-care health center beds.
1990: Fifteen additional Independent Living apartments are added to the project. An October Glory Maple Tree is donated by Wesley Retirement Services to the founding members of the Park Centre community.
1991: Construction of the $13 million community begins.
1992: The first Independent Living reident moves into Park Centre. A grand opening is held in September.
1993: A groundbreaking ceremony is held for the Park Centre townhome community.
1996: A groundbreaking ceremony is held for a 27-unit Independent Living addition to Park Centre.
2000: Groundbreaking is held for a care addition for residents with Alzheimer's disease.
2003: Sixteen additional Assisted Living apartments are added to Park Centre.
2004: A bus is purchased to provide residents with transportation services and day-trip capabilities.
2009: A redevelopment is announced that will add 18 deluxe private suites for short-term rehabilitation.
