Abby Harlacher, associate executive director at Edgewater, a WesleyLife Community for Healthy Living in West Des Moines, Iowa, has been named that community’s executive director.
Harlacher assumes the new role after 16 years with WesleyLife. She began her career with the organization on the wellness team at Wesley on Grand in Des Moines, moving to Edgewater to take on a similar role.
She was promoted to associate executive director of that campus in 2022.
“Abby is much more than a well-being professional; in addition to possessing the leadership skills, business acumen, health administration knowledge, hospitality commitment, and joy-filled outlook needed to lead Edgewater, she is simply one of the most compassionate people I have ever met,” Janet Simpson, vice president of operations for WesleyLife, said.
“In addition, Abby brings a ‘can do’ attitude to all she does, and she has the unique ability to empathize with anyone she meets.”
Harlacher, a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science from Iowa State University and is earning a master’s degree in health, healthcare administration, and healthcare management from the University of Phoenix. In her new role, she will continue to office out of Edgewater in West Des Moines.
