What’s next? Qualifications and screenings.

Positions in our health centers typically require certification or licensure. Nursing leadership positions, such as a director of nursing or a case manager, will require additional experience in effectively leading teams and meeting expectations for quality and compliance for the area in which they serve.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) must have active licensure in good standing in Iowa.
  • Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) must have active licensure in good standing in Iowa.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) must have completed the 75-hour CNA course and have successfully passed the certification exam in Iowa.
  • Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) must have a current and active certification as a Medication Assistant
  • Certified Rehabilitation Assistant must have current and active certification as a Rehabilitation Assistant
  • Resident Associates and Home Care Aides are not required to be certified.  We prefer individuals who have some prior healthcare-related experience, but that is not required.

Professionals may serve in our Network Support Center in Johnston, Iowa; in one of our Communities for Healthy Living, or in a location that supports our array of home-based services.  

Team members who serve in a professional or administrative capacity are essential for the successful delivery of our services.  While you may not directly interact with an individual who receives services, you directly impact those who do!  Your support, guidance, and professional contributions impact the organization in meaningful and important ways.

You will be counted on to provide your area of expertise to your team as well as to teams in other parts of the organization.  You will often be a member of a cross-functional team and expected to contribute your voice and your opinion for the purpose of advancing our mission and ministry.  We are at our best when every person actively participates!

Professional and Administrative positions require a broad range of qualifications and experience, depending on the position.  As you review any current postings, you’ll see the experience and education requirements listed. 

Most positions require some level of prior experience in their field of expertise.  Some positions will require specialized training and/or certification through an external agency to demonstrate your competency.

Most of these positions require no prior experience or education with the exception of those listed below.  We are willing to provide the necessary training to help you be successful in a number of these positions.  However, at all times, we are focused on the right attitude and character to ensure your success in any of these positions.

  • Executive Chef positions will require a degree in the culinary arts along with prior experience in a hospitality, restaurant or health-related setting.
  • Those interested in a “cook” position will be required to demonstrate prior experience in large-quantity cooking.
  • Most of our Concierge and/or Front Desk-types of roles will require specific computer experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (at a minimum).  Prior customer service experience in a high-traffic setting is also expected.

While WesleyLife’s health and wellness network serves people wherever they call home, thousands of older adults also make their homes at one of our 11 communities in Iowa and western Illinois. Each incorporates several buildings and spacious grounds that are maintained with great pride. We are always looking for team members who take as much pride as we do in creating vibrant, active, comfortable accommodations for the people we serve.

We also seek thoughtful and conscientious drivers to transport residents and Wesley Wheels clients safely to their destinations, but to transport many thousands of home-delivered meals and conduct daily checks of older people in their own homes.
