Halcyon House in Washington Breaks Ground on Campus Transformation Project accent

June 4, 2015 | By

WASHINGTON, Iowa - June 3, 2015 - WesleyLife broke ground today on a major community investment project that will transform Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa, by adding much needed memory care households for older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of mid-to-late stage dementia. The expansion will allow area residents to stay close to home for the care they need.

Halcyon House’s original health center is being replaced by three, 18-bed households. Each household will address specialized care needs: long-term care, short-term rehabilitation and memory care. The project also includes creation of a more identifiable entrance, renovation of several older common spaces and creation of new independent living amenity spaces.

With an approximate budget of $10.5 million, this 54-bed addition and renovation project demonstrates how senior living communities can make a reasonable investment in capital improvements that communicate a deep commitment to supporting the community and transforming the aging experience.

Once completed in 2016, Halcyon House will be hiring additional team members to provide 24/7 care and services to residents.

Speakers at the event included: Chris Marshall, executive director, Halcyon House; Rev. Bob Bell; Rob Kretzinger, WesleyLife president and CEO; Washington Mayor Sandra Johnson; Mike Driscoll, Washington County Riverboat Foundation board president; John Moenck, WesleyLife board member; William Reed, WesleyLife vice president of Philanthropy.
