About WellAhead
WellAhead is a “continuing care at home” experience designed for individuals who likely will never move into one of our communities — because they have no interest in doing so. They’re committed to stay in their own homes as they age, and they realize focusing on their well-being will assist them in remaining healthy enough to remain independent at home.
A perfect illustration of WesleyLife’s core emphasis on health and well-being, WellAhead is revolutionary in its design to enable people to live healthily at home as long as they can. It also provides significant healthcare savings when and if care and services are needed. A person or couple will pay a one-time membership fee as entry into the program. Then, they’ll pay a monthly service fee and can select from an a la carte menu of well-being benefits that will be customized by member.
WellAhead lowers the cost of care while increasing quality and flexibility. People will join while they’re healthy, and we’ll do all we can to help them stay that way! But should they need assisted living or long-term care services down the road, membership in WellAhead will entitle them to coverage of at-home services or services and care in a WesleyLife community.
- Well-being first: The program also includes 24/7 well-being/healthcare advocacy — each member is paired with their own personal lifestyle coach, who will serve as the member’s personal health advocate. Think of the role as a concierge for health and well-being services throughout the entirety of WellAhead membership.
- Smarter, safer home: WellAhead is designed to help members remain in their homes — wherever they call home — as long as possible. Included with membership is a virtual caregiver designed to transform a residence into a digital Smart Health Home. The virtual caregiver will assist with chronic care management, rehabilitation, behavioral health, and more, and will also provide emergency-response technology.

Because this is an important way for our organization to continue to expand our mission to support the health and well-being of older adults wherever they call home, it’s important for our leaders to understand the benefits of this program and all it entails. WellAhead is yet one more way we can do all the good we can, in all the ways we can, for all the people we can.
It will benefit WesleyLife as a whole, which in turns benefits all our campuses! WellAhead is an important step in broadening our mission and reaching a population we would not otherwise be able to serve. WellAhead is not designed to compete with our campuses, but to extend our network to the sizable percentage of people who plan never to move into a community.
Strongly leveraging our broad network of existing WesleyLife At Home offerings, WellAhead creates significant growth opportunities in our at-home space – both from a revenue perspective as well as through the addition of new team members and enhanced opportunities for our existing team.
WellAhead Launch Details
WellAhead folds under our WesleyLife at Home umbrella. The program establishes a new Executive Director position that reports up through our Vice President, Home and Community Based Services. New opportunities are also being created in both sales and lifestyle coaching.
WellAhead is officially in market as of March 2024. This new offering first targets the Greater Des Moines market, and is set to expand state-wide upon proven success for both our customers and organization.
