Dee Lindsey

Dee Lindsey was ready for a change. As a home care aide for WesleyLife Home and Community Services, she's found what she'd been looking for.

Dee-Lindsey"I had worked a variety of office jobs, the kind where you show up and do your work and it's fine, but it doesn't fill your heart," Dee, who works out of Edgewater-A WesleyLife Active Life Community, says. "A friend who works for WesleyLife would post often on Facebook about how much she loved her job, and I finally asked, 'How do I find that kind of job satisfaction?' I was at a point in my life where I needed my job to be meaningful."

Dee visited wesleylife.org/careers and browsed the openings, then submitted her resume for a home care aide position. She was hired and hit the ground running, forging relationships with clients immediately.

"I find myself wanting to work all the hours I can just to be near the people I serve -- that may sound corny, but it's true," Dee says. "The appreciation they have for the things I help them with -- even the smallest things -- makes my day. I leave to go home and can't wait to see them the next day. I've never felt like that about a job."

Dee said her time with WesleyLife already has impacted her plan for the remainder of her professional life.

"My manager and my team members are wonderful, and there's so much opportunity for advancement," she says. "I have no doubt I'll do this until I'm unable to work anymore.

"My daughters even tell me there's a spring in my step that wasn't there before. I was looking for a job, but I found a career."
