At WesleyLife, we believe everyone deserves access to the nutrition and connection they need to thrive — especially those who have served our country. That’s why we’re proud to share news of a new partnership that strengthens our ability to serve veterans in need right here in Polk County.
This week, the Polk County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved funding that will enable WesleyLife Meals on Wheels to deliver daily meals to homebound veterans. Through a newly established agreement with Polk County Veteran Affairs, WesleyLife Meals on Wheels will provide daily meals to as many as 20 veterans — helping ensure they receive the consistent nutrition they need to support their health and independence.
A significant step
Veterans make up 13% of those served by WesleyLife Meals on Wheels in Polk County. This partnership provides sustainable funding to serve approximately 20% of those individuals — a significant step forward as Meals on Wheels works to enhance quality of life for older adults and military veterans who are aging in their homes.
Beyond meals, WesleyLife Meals on Wheels offers vital moments of daily connection and safety checks for individuals who may otherwise be isolated. These visits offer comfort and peace of mind to recipients and their families, reinforcing the program’s broader impact on well-being.
The agreement will remain in effect through June 30, 2026, with the option to renew for an additional two years. As the program expands, so does its power to bring nourishment, dignity, and gratitude to those who have served.
