Community Enhancements Benefit City's First Responders

Written by WesleyLife | December 16, 2021

Plans to enhance The Village, WesleyLife's Community for Healthy Living in Indianola, Iowa, are indirectly benefiting some of the city's first responders.

"Doing something for them is the least we can do to give back for all they give to our community when we have someone in need," Heather Frank, Interim Executive Director at The Village, said.

In 2022, WesleyLife will make a variety of campus improvements to The Village, and those changes will require the demolition of a vacant building that that sits on the property. The building has been used for a variety of purposes over the last several years, most recently for storage.

Village leaders reached out to the Indianola Fire Department recently to ask if the department would have any use for the building before it's demolished, and the department accepted the offer. Firefighters conducted training drills there this week.

"It's important for us to consistently create opportunities for our residents and team members to reach beyond our walls into the greater community, and it makes us happy to know we can be a part of something useful to the city," Heather says.
