In 2016, Larry and his wife, Ann, moved to Edgewater. Larry is very involved in many activities at Edgewater, in particular the Veterans' Group. Larry grew up in Earlham, Iowa, and graduated from high school there, then went on to Parsons College, where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics.
Soon after graduation, Larry joined the Navy and was part of Fighter Squadron 92 in the U.S. Air Force. Serving the Vietnam War, Larry and his pilot, James T. Ruffin, were shot down, captured by North Vietnamese soldiers, and sent to Hanoi. Larry was held prisoner for just four days shy of seven years, and was released on February 12, 1973.
Larry is a motivational speaker and has been recognized by numerous military and public organizations for his service to our country.
