Brio of Johnston COVID-19 Daily Report
Updated: June 5, 2020, at 9:00 a.m.
As we navigate the novel coronavirus pandemic, our primary concern continues to be the health and well-being of those who have placed their trust in our community. We continue to follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to mitigate the spread of the virus, and will update you with this daily report as well as a weekly communication from our Executive Director.
As of today, Brio has 2 active cases of COVID-19:
- 0 residents
- 2 team members
New -- A note about team member testing:
Per guidelines from the Iowa Department of Public Health, we have let all team members know that testing is available in cooperation with the IDPH and the Office of the Governor at no out-of-pocket cost. The IDPH tells us that while testing is one tool in our arsenal, it should not supersede existing infection prevention and control procedures – so right now, as always, mitigating the spread of the virus is our top priority. We are in touch with the IDPH daily, so if guidance around testing should change, we will immediately respond.
We are careful to let everyone know that a COVID-19 test is only a snapshot in time; to get an absolutely accurate picture of a person’s status, that person might have to be tested many times over a period of days. It is very common for a number of negative results to show up before an individual will test positive.
For that reason, we are stressing the critical importance of following protocols around hygiene and social distancing – when team members are at work and, even more importantly, when they are NOT at work.
Again, guidance around all aspects of this virus is evolving. We receive it daily and respond immediately, and that will continue.
