RESPECTED LEADER IN RETIREMENT SERVICES CHANGES NAME
Johnston, IA (July 10, 2009) – Now offering a growing array of services to help today’s older adults live life to the fullest, Wesley Retirement Services is updating its name to WesleyLife and casting a vision for further purposeful growth.
When the nonprofit Wesley Retirement Services formed 62 years ago, retirement communities were its focus, starting with Wesley Acres in Des Moines. Although residential retirement and lifestyle communities continue to be a priority, the organization has focused a significant amount of attention in recent years to reach out to the broader community by adding new services such as hospice care, Meals on Wheels, rehabilitative therapy and home health care.
“We have the opportunity now to connect with people in many different stages of life through our newer services,” said Rob Kretzinger, WesleyLife president and CEO. “And it’s in light of the many great strides we’ve made to become a comprehensive aging resource that we feel it’s time to change how we communicate who we are.”
In developing the new WesleyLife identity, input came from about 500 people, which included board members, directors, residents and trade partners.
“We see the new name as an expression of who we are today and the vision we have for our future,” Kretzinger said. “WesleyLife speaks to our commitment to celebrate life and the spirit for living.”
Looking ahead, WesleyLife is finalizing agreements to expand into new markets, including an affiliation agreement with Epworth Villa, an Oklahoma United Methodist continuing care retirement community. Also, in October WesleyLife will hold the grand opening for its state-of-the-art active life community which will open in August in West Des Moines, Edgewater.
“As an organization based on Christian principles, we challenge ourselves to continually examine whether we are doing all we’re called to do to serve others,” Kretzinger said. “It’s energizing to know that we are changing lives through what we do, and we are looking forward to experiencing what the future has in store for us under our new name, WesleyLife.”
