Christian Mission In Action

The Christian heritage that was the foundation of Wesley 63 years ago remains the cornerstone of WesleyLife today. Wesley was founded by the South-Iowa Conference of the Methodist Church with the vision of providing housing and services for older adults.

This Methodist vision provided direction to the new organization whose mission was “with responsible efforts to uphold high standards, without sacrificing the warm quality of dignified, secure home-life, through experience and initiative, and to serve beyond its walls with constant alertness to unmet needs in the human family..."

Over the years, WesleyLife has continued to serve that early mission to provide solutions to unmet needs in the community. As a nonprofit organization, we are proud to serve people of all faiths in a Christian, caring way. In addition to the older adults we serve every day in one of continuing care retirement communties, Wesley provides access to superior customer-centered care through a variety of services provided at home or in the greater community. Our passion for making Iowa a better place to live is also evident through a variety of outreach programs to assist those in the greater communities where we live and work. These are just a few of the ways we live our Christian heritage today:

Providing nearly 260,000 meals to older adults through WesleyLife Meals on Wheels – 75% of which are cost subsidized for clients who would not otherwise have a balanced meal

WesleyLife provided $1.2 million worth of care and assistance through our Good Samaritan/Good Shepard program and charitable care to assist residents and clients whose resources are exhausted

Over 40,000 volunteer hours were provided in loving support of Wesley residents, clients, and those in the greater community

We’ve reached out to the greater community to provide nearly 6,000 immunizations, blood pressure clinics and health screenings

Provided a gathering space in our retirement communities at no charge to local nonprofit groups, providing more than 2,500 hours of use

WesleyLife is related by faith to the United Methodist Church and is an Associate Organization of the Iowa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. We are driven by a set of Christian principles focused on care, compassion and the well-being of people – values that complement the mission of the church.
